Felix Sanchez
Felix R. Sanchez is the Chief Executive Officer of TerraCom, a
government and public relations firm in Washington, DC, and serves as the pro
bono Chairman of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA). In 1997,
Felix joined actors Jimmy Smits, Sonia Braga, and Esai Morales in establishing
NHFA. The goal of the
foundation is to advance the presence of Latinos in the entertainment and
telecommunications Industries. He is a longtime advocate against Latino
underrepresentation in the entertainment industry.
Felix has developed a number of collateral infrastructure
and pipeline programs to assist the entertainment industry achieve its goals of
promoting more Latinos in this business. Most recently, he established an
educational/networking forum for NHFA’s students in California, Texas and New
York. Under his leadership and in partnership with Children Now, NHFA produces
an annual quantitative look at Latino portrayal on network primetime TV. Felix
also has organized a partnership between NHFA and the entertainment industry to
develop actor showcases; promote Latino writers; develop new talent development
programs and assists the industry in addressing issues of concern to the Latino
community. To date, NHFA has awarded over one million dollars in scholarship
grants to Latino graduate students interested in careers in the entertainment
industry.
Felix is a former legislative assistant to then Senator Lloyd M.
Bentsen, Jr (1983-1986).; former director of congressional relations for the
American Gas Association and former vice president for government relations for
the American Methanol Institute.
Mr. Sanchez received his B.A. and M.A. degrees with highest
honors from The University of Texas at Austin, where he studied Psychology and
Curriculum and Instruction, respectively. He holds a J.D from the University of
Houston’s College of Law.

He is a former CNN contributor and has been profiled in The
Washington Post, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, PBS, NBC’s The
Today Show, Dateline NBC, Entertainment Tonight, E!, Access Hollywood, Hispanic
Link, The Washingtonian, Washington Hispanic, PEOPLE en Español, La Opinión,
Univision and Telemundo. Mr. Sanchez was
named one of the most influential Latinos by Hispanic Magazine in 2000 and was
awarded the Mickey Leland Award for Excellence by the National Association of
Minorities in Communications (NAMIC). In
1999, Hispanic Business magazine named TERRACOM’s CEO “one of the most
