Brian East, Senior Attorney for Disability Rights Texas will
kick of Business Leadership Week by delivering the Distinguished Lecture at 11
a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 in McCoy Hall, room 119. Mr. East will also
serve as a judge for the Bloomberg Businessweek Mini-Case Competition taking
place on Monday afternoon.
As the Senior Attorney for Disability Rights Texas, Brian East
handles a number of disability-discrimination and disability-rights cases in
both state and federal courts. He is currently a board member of both the
National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and the Texas Employment Lawyers
Association. He has previously served as Chair of NELA’s Disability Rights
Committee and on the legal committees of the National Disability Rights
Network. He is the co-author and editor of the chapter on “Workers with
Disabilities” in the Employee & Union Member Guide to Labor Law
(Thompson/West), was named SuperLawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine, and is
the 2008 recipient of the 2008 Martha Arbuckle Meritorious Service Award from
the Austin Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities.
