applying ergonomics, human factors, and safety engineering to providing
nurturing developmental care to preemies, well babies, children in distress,

was born 12 weeks prematurely and survived the deluge of Tropical Storm Allison
that shut down his life-support equipment. He spent 5 months in the intensive
care unit in Houston and Yamile has kept her promise to him that his pain and
struggle to survive were not going to be in vain.
She has 4 engineering degrees, and has received over 18 awards including
Oprah's and Toyota's Standing Ovation Award, Top 20 Latino Innovator of the

movie “14:Hours” and against all odds, he is a normal teenager, athletic,
funny, loving, and smart and is Nurtured by Design’s CIO (Chief Inspirational
Officer). Yamile's products, The Zaky, Kangaroo Zak, and Zen by Zak are sold to
families and to over 400 hospitals in over 50 countries and she has donated
