The Study Abroad Fair is right around the corner!

Texas State University is a proud signatory to Generation Study Abroad, a national campaign to significantly increase the number of students studying and learning abroad.  We have committed to increase the number of Texas States students studying abroad by 50 percent over the next five years.  This commitment reflects the university’s emphasis on internationalization and desire to ensure that all students have the opportunity to take part in an international experience.

The Study Abroad Office invites you to the Texas State Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the LBJSC Ballroom.  Representatives of different programs will be providing information to those interested in studying, teaching, working, and/or researching abroad.  The fair includes a variety of options for international experiences, including faculty-led study abroad programs, internship and service learning opportunities, and semester exchange programs, among others.

Texas State students also have the opportunity to apply for the International Education Fee Scholarship (IEFS).  The funding available for the 2014-2015 academic year is approximately $300,000.  For more information visit www.studyabroad.txstate.edu.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Jami Lewis, Study Abroad Representative, at (512) 245-1967 or via email at jamilewis@txstate.edu.

January Policy of the Month: Repeat Fee

Did you know that if you attempt a course for the third or more time, you will be charged a fee in addition to the tuition charged for the course?

This is known as the course repeat fee:
The Texas Legislature eliminated funding to higher education for courses that are attempted three or more times. An attempted course is defined as any course in which a grade is earned on the transcript, including repeated courses and courses dropped with a grade of a W.

To read the full policy in detail, refer to page 27 of the 2014-2016 TexasState Undergraduate Catalog
