With registration for summer and fall starting Monday March
24th, it is important that we inform you about a prerequisite change
for upper-level accounting courses. Beginning fall 2014, the Accounting
Department will require a “B” or better in ACC 3313 – Intermediate I in order
to meet the prerequisites for ACC 3314 – Intermediate II, ACC 3363 –
Governmental Accounting and ACC 3385 – Accounting Information Systems. Please review the following groups to see
which one applies to you and your situation.
Be aware this may not affect you if you are not planning to take
upper-level accounting courses for your degree requirements.

GROUP ONE
– You completed ACC 3313 prior to fall 2014 and received a grade of a C
You will need to contact the Accounting Department at 512.245.2566 for a
prerequisite override to register for ACC 3314 or ACC 3363 or ACC 3385. Please note that you will only have until
summer 2015 to complete ACC 3314, ACC 3363 and ACC 3385 with a grade of a C in
ACC 3313. After summer 2015, if you have
not completed these three courses and you have a C in ACC 3313, you will be
required to repeat ACC 3313 to earn a B and meet the prerequisites for the
courses you have outstanding.

GROUP TWO
– You are currently enrolled in ACC 3313 this spring or summer 2014
You will be eligible to register for ACC 3314, ACC 3363 or ACC 3385 for
summer or fall 2014 without a prerequisite override by the Accounting
Department. However, if you earn a C in
ACC 3313 this spring or summer, you will need to contact the Accounting
Department to get a prerequisite override for ACC 3314 or ACC 3363 or ACC 3385
to remain enrolled in these any of these three courses for summer or fall. Please note that you will only have until
summer 2015 to complete ACC 3314, ACC 3363 and ACC 3385 with a grade of a C in
ACC 3313. After summer 2015, if you have
not completed these three courses and you have a C in ACC 3313, you will be
required to repeat ACC 3313 to earn a B and meet the prerequisites for the
courses you have outstanding.

GROUP
THREE – You are currently enrolled in ACC 3313 this spring or summer 2014 and
earn a B or you previously completed the course with a B in prior semester
You
will not have any issues registering for ACC 3314 or ACC 3363 or ACC 3385 for
fall.
